Bahia palace, Marrakesh Morocco

Day 1: Marrakech

On arrival into Marrakech, you will be driven to your accommodation. Have some rest and then join your TL for an introduction to the city which was founded in 1062 by one of the chieftains of the Almoravids king Yusuf Ibn Tashfin.

Marrakech enjoys a legend status which conveys the ideas of mystery, sensuality, and exotism.

Your TL will show you the famous Koutoubia mosque which was built by the Almohads  in the 12th C.

The minaret of the Koutoubia, 77 meters high is the main landmark of the city and its visible from almost any point.

Then your TL will take you to see Djemmaa El Fna,  the famous square. It used to be a place for public Executions long time ago. Today it is the  meeting point of musicians, food sellers, acrobats, snake Charmers, storytellers, dancers, fortune tellers and sellers and other exotic characters.

Day 2: Marrakech

Your TL driver will collect you from your accommodation for a private tour of the City:

El Bahia Palace:

built in the late 19th c, it features an exquisite blend of Andalusian and Moorish styles. Specially interesting are the harem apartments, the trapezoidal garden, and the huge tiled Courtyard with fontains.

The Mellah:

Visit the Jewish quarter, which became home of thriving community of native and Spanish Jews, famed for their rabbinical schools and scholars. Visit the Rabbi Hanan Azough , known as the patron of Marrakesh.

The Medrasa Ben Youssef:

ancestors of modern universities, the ancient Madras were theological colleges which concentrated also all scientific and philosophic knowledge of their age, providing both lodging and education to students. the Medrasa Ben Youssef was founded by Abu al-hassan in the 14th C.

The Majorelle Garden:

Visit the picturesque Majorelle Gardens with its electric blue villa that Yves Saint Laurent gifted to Marrakesh, now  a mirage of over 300 plants species from five continents and the Majorelle Museum with its displays of traditional Arts.

The souks:

The massive souks of Marrakesh are a true labyrinth of stalls and artisan workshops, organized in nearly trade corporations that bring together more than 1600 craftsmen. Each trade has its own quarter inside the souks with shops devoted to the sales of everything imaginable, from carpets  or lamps to spices. Whether you are a big shopper or not visiting a souk is a cultural experience.

Dar El Bacha:

This place was built for pacha Thami El Glaoui also known as the lord of the atlas. it’s one of the medina’s finest examples of Riyadh architecture, dripping with Zellige  (colorful geometric tilework) intricate white plaster work and heavy cedar wood lintels.

Day 3: Marrakech-Skoura

Departure toward the south of Morocco crossing the high Atlas mountains via Tizin-Tichka pass, the highest mountain passage in the whole of North Africa.

In Skoura, explore the depths of its immense palm grove, dotted with hundreds of kasbahs, many of them are regrettably in ruins.

The most beautiful Kasbahs in southern Morocco can be found here. Many of them are still partially inhabited.

Day 4: Skoura-Merzouga

Transfer to Erfoud, at the edge of the Sahara desert. Continue by 4X4 WD to the massive dunes of Ero, Chebbi a strikingly strange natural formation. On the top of the flattest area you could imagine.

Suddenly a long mountain of sand rises.

This mountain is surrounded by flat and desolate nature on all sides, and you could end up wondering if it really is real. But so it is, even if its existence is so weird that it has given rise to legends and myths among the locals.

Late afternoon, you will enjoy short camel ride to witness the sunset from over the desert dunes and admire the peace and calm as well as the changing colours of the landscape. Dinner will be served in your luxury encampment with Berber music.

Sahara Merzouga

Day 5: Merzouga-Gorge of Todra-Skoura-Ouarzazate.

Breakfast and drive toward Ouarzazate, En route you pass by the most spectacular Gorges of Todra: Graggy and colourful rock walls up to 1000 feet high loom over a lush narrow valley dotted with oasis-like date palmeries and irrigated fields of grain.

 

Day 6: Ouarzazate-Marrakech

After breakfast, enjoy a sightseeing tour of Ouarzazate including the kasbah Ait ourir, and the local cinema studios. Continue to the fortified village of Ait Ben Haddou, one of Morocco’s world heritage sites in Morocco, it has been used as location for famous films such as Lawrence of Arabia and Tesus of Nazareth.

Day 7: Marrakech departure

Transfer to Marrakech airport for your departure flight.
